There are around two million people living with cancer in the UK, and during our charity selection process many of our employees have shared stories about the way that it has affected their lives, so we know that this is a cause that many of our employees are passionate about.
We’ll keep you up to date about how we are aiming to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support during 2011 and hope this means that we can count on your support to make our fundraising a real success.
September will see colleagues and customers taking on a serious challenge as they attempt to cycle from Hull to Liverpool in just two days in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team will be leaving Hull on Monday September 19th and cycling 130 miles across to the other side of the country in two days, with the aim of arriving at the Liver Building in Liverpool on Tuesday 20th.
The fundraiser will be a 4 stage event over the 2 days and en-route they will call in at Leeds Cars, Leeds Commercials and Haydock Commercials to auction off some fantastic sporting memorabilia including a wide selection of signed premiership football shirts, a signed Yorkshire cricket bat and a pair of boots worn and signed by Patrice Evra.

This month saw employees across Manheim take on the challenge of raising a tenner for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We asked people to be as inventive as they could with their fundraising ideas, whether they chose to raise the money at work or at home and we were very impressed by the response, with employees climbing mountains, giving massages and doing henna tattoos, but the biggest money spinner turned out to be a good old fashioned cake sale.
Colleagues at Manheim Auctions Bristol, Leeds and Manheim Direct donned their aprons to bake cakes, cookies and crispy buns to tempt workmates and customers alike. In fact, we raised an astonishing £562 just from selling homemade goodies!
Donations are still coming in, but so far we have raised over £2,000 from our ‘raise a tenner’ campaign.
The team at Manheim Auctions Birmingham got our Macmillan fundraising efforts off to a great start with a special ‘green’ themed sale on Friday.
Thanks to the generosity of vendors, buyers and colleagues alike, the branch raised more than £3,000 for the charity that is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Chief Executive John Bailey, who was on hand to launch Manheim’s partnership with Macmillan, commented:
“The team at Birmingham did a great job and I am delighted that we have got our fundraising efforts off to such a great start.”
Auction Centre Manager Steve Hanna explains:
“I am delighted that we managed to raise so much money for Macmillan and want to thank everyone that supported us on the day, in particular Arbury, who kindly donated 25% of their profit from Friday's auction to the Macmillan fund.”
